CalculatorAxis sets one cookie in total, and only when an administrator signs in to the private dashboard. If you are here to use a calculator, this site gives you no cookies at all.
You have probably closed a hundred cookie banners this month. Here is why you will not see one on CalculatorAxis, and exactly what the single cookie we do use is for.
The cookie is named calculatoraxis_admin_session. It is created only when someone signs in at the admin dashboard, which is a private area not used by visitors.
It is a strictly necessary cookie: without it, an administrator would be signed out on every page load. It holds a signed session token, not personal information, and it expires automatically after eight hours.
Name: calculatoraxis_admin_session
Purpose: keeps an administrator signed in
Lifetime: 8 hours, then expires automatically
Flags: HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict, Secure in production
What HttpOnly and SameSite mean
HttpOnly means the cookie cannot be read by JavaScript running in the page, which protects it from script-based theft. SameSite=Strict means your browser will not send it when a request comes from another website, which prevents cross-site request forgery. Secure means it is only ever transmitted over HTTPS. These are the settings you would want on a session cookie, and they are what we use.
Cookies we do not set
No advertising cookies. No analytics cookies. No social media cookies. No cross-site tracking. No third-party scripts of any kind run on this site, so no third party can set a cookie through us either.
This is also why there is no cookie consent banner. Consent requirements under the EU and UK ePrivacy rules apply to cookies that are not strictly necessary. Our only cookie is strictly necessary and is set solely for administrators, so a banner would be noise rather than a protection.
Local storage on your device
Separately from cookies, the site may use your browser's local storage for interface state. Local storage stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.
On the mobile app, your calculation history, favourites and theme choice are saved the same way, on your phone, so the app works fully offline. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes all of it.
How to control cookies and storage
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and site data, usually under Settings, then Privacy. You can block everything from this site and the calculators will still work perfectly, because they do not depend on cookies.
The only thing that will break is staying signed in to the admin dashboard, which will not affect you unless you are an administrator.
